JSC Launch

The Jeffrey Cheah Foundation (JCF) and the United Nations Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN) Association are launching the Jeffrey Sachs Center on Sustainable Development (JSC) to carry out comprehensive collaboration on sustainable development as the global community under the leadership of the United Nations begins the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The gift of USD 10 million from the Jeffrey Cheah Foundation to support the collaboration is the largest financial commitment to date focused on SDG education and implementation since 193 members of the UN adopted the 17 goals in September 2015.

The work program of JSC is based on the recognition that achieving the SDGs requires the collective global expertise of, and cooperation with, academia, public policy makers, civil society, and business community. JSC is the SDSN Center of Excellence in Southeast Asia and it will work closely with SDSN country chapters in the region to help launch the holistic process of enabling the Southeast Asian region and the rest of the world to make decisive progress in the area of sustainable development, and to protect and preserve our planet, Earth.
